Church arrived at a very smart stadium with freshly laid AstroTurf. A breeze blew from left to right along the pitch.
This match followed a 4-1 Church home defeat. Church’s season continued with an impressive 4-0 away win seeing a wonderful team performance was capped off by some fantastic finishing.
Staveley started kicking into the wind. Church used a long pass to Wayne Hughes to gain position and a good cross by Tom Charlesworth was well saved in the second minute.

. . good work followed by a low cross by Jammy Young from the left was met on the full by Nathan Keightley. His deft touch beat the keeper in the middle of the goal from 6 yards.

Church continued to have the better of the early exchanges. A couple of half chances were created, but Church could not quite convert.
After 15 minutes Staveley started to find their men and Church had all on to defend a corner and the following couple of chances. Church responded with a good touch by Wayne Hughes and a great run by Reece High.
Staveley worked the ball at pace, from halfway diagonally across the pitch to the right of the box. The cross was well met, but Chris Snaith pulled off a great save to keep the ball out.

A thunderous cross from the right was met at the far post by Reece High. He rose like a salmon to head the ball into the near post from 6 yards.

Church continued to hold Staveley and defended stoutly. They broke dangerously, Nathan Keightley tried an adventurous curling shot that just went wide.

Church were on the back foot from the kick off. Chris Snaith pulled off a superb finger-tip save low to his right. The rebound hit the post to go wide for a goal kick.

Church bounced straight back and a quick passing move found Reece High on the half way line. He outstripped the defence, steadied himself, from full pace, and finished low to the right of goal.

Church again put Staveley under pressure, but two chances went begging. However, Staveley continued to create openings, the Church defence held out well. Staveley benefitted from a defensive mix up but the shot went wide left from 8 yards.
Staveley opened up the midfield and a low shot from 8 yards was well saved by Chris Snaith.
Tom Deighton (dual signed from Ossett) came on for his debut, replacing Elliot Firth.

Reece High worked his magic down the left. His pinpoint cross from the goal line found Nathan Keightley on the right of the box. His low finish found the far corner of the net.
