image.png

The Pride of Yorkshire trail brings communities together across South Yorkshire through creativity, storytelling and fundraising in support of Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity. As part of this inspiring regional event, Penistone Church FC proudly presents Penny Black, a community-designed lion cub celebrating the unity, spirit and growth of girls’ grassroots football at the club. Created by the Penistone Church Ladies U13 Blacks, Penny Black represents teamwork, resilience and the power of One Club, One Community

“Penny Black represents the unity, friendship and determination of Penistone Church Ladies U13 Blacks and reflects our club ethos: One Club, One Community — captured in our message, One Cub, One Community. The sculpture celebrates the girls’ teamwork, togetherness and support for one another, alongside Penistone Church FC’s growing commitment to girls’ grassroots football in our community. It also honours Leah Walton’s outstanding fundraising for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity. After the trail, Penny Black will be proudly displayed in the clubhouse.” Liam Pond -U13 Blacks Manager

The Pride of Yorkshire trail is a large-scale public art event celebrating creativity, community and regional identity across South Yorkshire. Featuring artist-designed lion sculptures and community-created cubs displayed in towns and cities throughout the area, the trail encourages people to explore their surroundings while supporting an important cause. It raises vital funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, helping improve facilities, treatment and support for young patients and their families.

(Special Mention as well to Rachel (Harriett our goalkeepers mum) who offered to paint the cub and did an outstanding job.)

At Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, we make clinical care kinder and bad days brighter. We bring play, laughter, and comfort to places where they’re needed the most. From the every day, to the extraordinary.

Following in the paw prints of the Bears of Sheffield (2021) and the Herd of Sheffield (2016), Pride of Yorkshire is our biggest and boldest campaign yet and is aiming to raise 2.8million to contribute to vital improvements across our Sheffield Children’s – for today, for tomorrow and for the next 150 years.

There are ways for everybody to get involved in Pride of Yorkshire. You can register your school or community group to adopt a cub, have your business sponsor a lion, applying to volunteer, setting a fundraising challenge and so much more.

Club Record Attendance - 1007 v Sheffield FC - 4th April 2026

THANK YOU!

April 4th 2026.  We only went and did it..... On our last home game of the NCEL Premier Division 2025/26 season we achieved a record attendance of 1007 at the Parker Roofing

Memorial Ground.   The fixture played versus local rivals and the oldest football club in the world Sheffield FC.

What a day, the ground was bursting at the seams, the stands were full, the club house was packed to the rafters from 1pm to 11pm, the VIP suite was sold out as fans of both clubs gathered along with  groundhoppers ,including a visitor from Norway, and lots of other football fans who came along and made a piece of club history with us.

We had local BBC Radio Sheffield host Adam Oxley present, alongside new Sheffield FC Chairman Jon Mclure of Reverand & The Makers, we saw Bob the Bucket and Paul Sampson from the Royal Oak FC somewhere in the crowd too.

Guests were advised to pay what they wanted at the turnstile and we can only say a huge thankyou for the generosity, as people opted to pay over the odds in many cases.  Massive thanks to everyone who contributed something to our club, and also for selling out our raffle, & buying the great food on offer from the kitchen.

Thankyou to the Womens u15s who hosted a game pre the big match and to all the junior players who joined us to create a guard of honour and be team mascots for the day, and to the new u7s who entertained us with a half time penalty shoot out competition against Penny the Penguin in goal.

We have to thank all of the amazing club volunteers who pulled out all the stops to look after all of our visitors and also make sure we looked after Sheffield FC. The bar staff and kitchen staff were amazing and the club owes them a massive thanks.

It was amazing to see the young Sheffield FC Ultras who came along and made a lot of nose in the Carling stand getting behind their team and behaving impeccably well.

Then post match thankyou to everybody who stayed on for post match drinks, putting much needed income into our club, the evening was fantastic with the club house full till late, and we had fun with Neil Diamondo and guests singing along including the new management team of Brett, Jubby and Jammy singing along to Elvis.

Just a top day and one to remember.. Thanks again to everybody who contributed, & thankyou Sheffield FC for promoting our 1000 fan fun day in advance of the game....It means the world to us.

120 years old in 2026 and we get our biggest ever crowd to celebrate it .... Cheers Everybody.

Local lads, Luke Fretwell, George Thompson, Jack Cartwright and Fin Taylor, all of whom play in our u18 Blacks team, starred on Saturday evening on the stage at Sheffield music venue Corporation in front of a sell out crowd as part of the venues echosounds event.  The quartet make up part of the line up of local indie band The Silk Stones who played for us in the PCFC club house in December.  The lads went down a storm playing popular covers as well as debuting their first ever single 'Skeletons'.

Luke & George also feature regularly for both our u21s and reserves teams, with Luke being leading scorer in the u21 league so far this season, having also featured in the first team on a couple of occasions.  The future is bright on the pitch and on the stage for this talented lot.  Congratulations on the launch of your first single lads, we hope it's the first of many from everyone at PCFC.

Clothes Bank - Jan 6th

The Clothing Bank Get Warm Return at PCFC

Penistone Church Football Club received over 70 bags of clothing as part of their December push to support the Yorkshire based Clothing Bank Charity.

Club chairman David Elliott said he was "delighted but not surprised" with the level of support received for the initiative adding, "we know how lucky Penistone Church Football Club is to operate in such a great, vibrant and supportive community. In 2026 we are keen to build closer relationships with groups and charities like The Clothing Bank that we can help. That may be through the utilisation and provision of our facilities or through support from our experienced and talented pool of volunteers".

The clothing donations will now be taken to The Clothing Bank Hub in West Yorkshire where the clothes will be checked, sorted and redistributed to people and groups in need, including the homeless, shelter homes, young vulnerable adults and families.

Penistone Church Football Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who took the time to visit and donate. Club chairman David, Liam Harding the manager along with player Macy from the Penistone Church FC Women's u15 Whites team also visited Penistone FM to discuss the project.
