PCFC 2 - 2 Pickering Town - Reaction
Another close NCEL Premier Division encounter yesterday at the Simply Log Cabins Memorial Ground. Not much to choose between Church and Pickering from a footballing point of view by half time, but somehow Church were 2-0 down and facing a stern challenge to get back into the game.
Pickering hit 2 quick fire goals within a couple of mins early in the first half, one a really well taken finish and one on the back of a defensive mix up. 2-0 flattered Pickering at that stage but the chances were despatched well, and the divisions form team looked to be on track for 3 points.
Church rallied in the second half and really took the game to Pickering, albeit without creating anything majorly threatening.
The lads dominated possession and steadily built momentum resulting in a deserved and well taken goal for man of the match Kieran Ryan. At 2-1 the belief came flooding back and church pushed on for the equaliser, which duly came from substitute Will Heath for his first goal of the season, a well directed header.
2-2 in the 90th minute and with 4 mins of added time Church kept going. Only a whisker prevented a 3rd when Will Heath again headed goalwards, but his effort went just wide of the left post with the last touch of the game.
A really encouraging second half and the lads gave everything to get back on terms.
Man of the Match was presented to Kieran by Steve Lavender and Richard Galliford ( pictured above) who along with Kevin Neill had kindly sponsored today’s match ball.
We also presented Harry Viggars with a £50 bar tab voucher for his Player of the month. Award for July/August
Dave Hampshire interviewed Jammy afterwards to get his thoughts on the performance and the game overall. you can see that in the video below.
