BOYS U9 Whites - Season Gets Underway!

After a brilliant attacking performance against 'Kimberworth Park' the week before in a

friendly, Penistone kicked off with an away match against 'Pinfold Pumas'.

New to the Sheffield League, and a bit of an unknown quantity, 'Pinfold' attacked with

pace creating chance after chance in the first half. A strong goalkeeping performance

in the first half kept the score within touching distance.

In the second half, Penistone created a few more chances but with the sun beating down,

the boys looked a little tired and lacked the cutting edge. A late goal came from Eli to get us off the mark for the season and gave us something to cheer about.

A great start to the season from our No.4 earned him the MOM award. A Solid first half performance in the net, followed by a composed defensive display in the second half.

At PCFC U9 Whites, we award the captaincy to different players on a weekly basis, based on how they perform in training. The player who shows qualities such as effort, focus, teamwork or improvement is awarded with 'Trainer of the Week' and also the captaincy for the following Matchday.

A huge shout out goes to our No.8 this week on representing the team as Captain and winning 'Trainer of the Week'.

On to next weeks match against Hillsborough Pumas, although some positives were taken from today, we're looking for improvements and more creativity in the final third.
