Penistone Church FC

From the start, we had the majority of possession but struggled to turn it into shots on goal. Hoyland Common Falcons took their chances well and managed to take an early lead. The boys showed determination to fight back, with Kellan scoring our first goal! In the second half, the team came back with more focus and determination, continuing to work hard and push forward. Their efforts paid off, with both Jude and Leo getting on the scoresheet! Man of the Match was our No. 10,

With no fixture for us this week, we’re taking the opportunity to shine a spotlight on one of our fantastic kit sponsors! A big THANK YOU to QED Financial Associates – Independent Financial Advisers for their support of the team. Grassroots football relies on the generosity of businesses who get behind their local teams, and we’re proud to have QED Financial Associates supporting us this season. Another fantastic performance from the lads today! The boys are continuing to go from strength to strength, showing just how much they’re developing as a team, with excellent teamwork, great passing and some brilliant football throughout the match. Joe got us off to a flying start with the opening goal, followed by Luke, who showed fantastic skill and confidence to take on the opposition from the centre line and find the back of the net! The second half saw the lads keep up t

What a game! The lads went toe‑to‑toe with Staincross Rangers, a team two leagues above us, in a cup thriller packed with goals, determination and proper end‑to‑end football. Leo opened the scoring before Jude added another while playing in goal. Momentum shifted after the break, with the lads growing in confidence and arguably becoming the stronger side. Reuben struck twice, Eli fired in a banger from the back, and the game became a brilliant back‑and‑forth battle. A late Ra

A great performance this week for the boys U9 Whites. Playing away from home, Penistone attacked the opposition with intent. They applied constant pressure until Jude finally broke the deadlock, pouncing on a save from the goalkeeper and putting Penistone in front. The second half saw Penistone apply the pressure once again, with a great goal coming from brilliant link up play between Kellan and Carter. Carter went on to complete a great second half Hat Trick. This week saw the boys in their first home game of the season and looking to improve on previous weeks. The match started with the away team initially applying pressure until Penistone kicked into gear and managed to score a goal and take control of the game. Goals came from Carter (2), Jude, Leo and Reuben in a good all round team performance and a positive result which will hopefully kickstart our season. Another great performance from this weeks Captain, our Number 5, con

This week the boys were up against Barnsley Sports Academy Away. Having contested many close encounters against the opposition in previous seasons, this match followed in a similar fashion. The boys continued to improve their level of performance with plenty of positives to take away. We created and missed many chances and a couple of mistakes at the back ultimately cost us the result we were striving for. Two great goals, one from Carter and one from Kellan gave us some

The U9 Whites kicked off their second game of the season against Hillsborough Pumas Away. The match was a lot more competitive than the previous week with a much improved level of effort all round. The boys were unlucky not to convert a few more chances, and were punished by a few little mistakes. Overall though, it was a lot more positive performance, definitely improvements still to be made, but more encouraging. Kellan worked up and down the pitch with tireless effort a

After a brilliant attacking performance against 'Kimberworth Park' the week before in a friendly, Penistone kicked off with an away match against 'Pinfold Pumas'. New to the Sheffield League, and a bit of an unknown quantity, 'Pinfold' attacked with pace creating chance after chance in the first half. A strong goalkeeping performance in the first half kept the score within touching distance. In the second half, Penistone created a few more chances but with the sun beating do
