Penistone Church Ladies U13 Blacks & Penny Black

The Pride of Yorkshire trail brings communities together across South Yorkshire through creativity, storytelling and fundraising in support of Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity. As part of this inspiring regional event, Penistone Church FC proudly presents Penny Black, a community-designed lion cub celebrating the unity, spirit and growth of girls’ grassroots football at the club. Created by the Penistone Church Ladies U13 Blacks, Penny Black represents teamwork, resilience and the power of One Club, One Community

“Penny Black represents the unity, friendship and determination of Penistone Church Ladies U13 Blacks and reflects our club ethos: One Club, One Community — captured in our message, One Cub, One Community. The sculpture celebrates the girls’ teamwork, togetherness and support for one another, alongside Penistone Church FC’s growing commitment to girls’ grassroots football in our community. It also honours Leah Walton’s outstanding fundraising for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity. After the trail, Penny Black will be proudly displayed in the clubhouse.” Liam Pond -U13 Blacks Manager

The Pride of Yorkshire trail is a large-scale public art event celebrating creativity, community and regional identity across South Yorkshire. Featuring artist-designed lion sculptures and community-created cubs displayed in towns and cities throughout the area, the trail encourages people to explore their surroundings while supporting an important cause. It raises vital funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, helping improve facilities, treatment and support for young patients and their families.

(Special Mention as well to Rachel (Harriett our goalkeepers mum) who offered to paint the cub and did an outstanding job.)
