Win for U18 Blacks

It was a return to winning ways for our under 18’s blacks as they hit the road, away to Dronfield Town.

Dronfield Town held the balance of play but chances fell evenly in the first half until Sienna slotted home after some excellent work down the right from Evie.

The girls were encouraged to find the next gear and be more positive on the ball in the second half and an outstanding through ball from Eva sent Ava clean through to add the second.

Three minutes later Ava added her second of the game after some intricate footwork from Sadie lead to us winning a free kick from a tight angle on the right. It’s easy to wax lyrical about goals but this shot really was special leaving the keeper with no chance.

Dronfield remained positive and got themselves on the score sheet but Penistone added a killer fourth goal after a quickly taken throw in from Sadie caught the defence napping, Evie squared the ball and Molly coolly finished at the back post.

Dronfield got another late consolation goal but Penistone left with three points.

It was a well earned win from Penistone who were missing a few attacking options today and player of the match awards for Isla C playing in an unfamiliar position and Evie were both well earned but special mentions for Emily at centre back and Ava up front are also deserved.
