Handsworth 2-3 PCFC - Match Reaction

Sunshine & blue skies welcomed Church at Oliver’s Mount this afternoon where they took on hosts and local South Yorkshire rivals Handsworth FC.

A close contest where both teams had their moments , made for an enjoyable watch particularly the second half which became a bit of a ding ding battle & Church’s hunger and desire to get something out of this game was there for all to see.

Church got into a half time lead with a goal from Elliott Harrison, his second for the club after signing in the summer.

The lead was extended in the second half when substitute Reece High on for Matty Lee hit a shot that was somehow spilled by the keeper. The officials deemed the ball had crossed the line much to the annoyance of the Home contingent. 2-0 Church.

Within a couple of minutes a clumsy challenge in the Church box, earned Handsworth a penalty which was duly coverted 2-1. Handsworth then in their next attack scored a back post header to equalise 2-2.

Then a through ball found Nathan who went through on goal only to be brought down by the Handsworth keeper. the ref again had no hesitation pointing to the spot, and Nath picked himself up to convert the winner 3-2.

Big shout to our new keeper Thor who made an amazing save in injury time to keep the lead at 3-2 which is how the game ended.

The second half became really end to end and Church looked good moving forward and defended to a man resolutely when called upon.

A great win at a difficult place to get one.

Dave Hampshire spoke with James Young after the game to get his view on the performance.
