Thursday night saw the last home game of the u21s tremendous 2025/26 season and brought with it a fantastic performance and result. The lads pulled off a 4-0 victory against local rivals Shelley FC u21s, with manager Will Hackett commenting on a great all round performance that went up a notch in the second half. 4 second half goals won us the game, with goals from Harry Hoyland 56, Luke Fretwell 71, Caiden Gyte 86 & Charlie Rogerson 90.

A great performance and evening from the lads, but tinged with a little regret as Sheffield FC winning at home on the same evening, means the league title goes to Sheffield FC after what has been a close run affair throughout. Our lads have finished a very close second place and but for a couple of recent results were so close to the title.

Never the less a fantastic season with a transitioning team, and amazing to see the young 16/17 year old lads doing so well in it.

Luke Fretwell still 16 years old is joint leading scorer for the team and also in the league with his strike partner Harry Hoyland (Top 10 scorers below) as a whole. This going some way to earning him regular reserves team football along with fellow u17s George Thompson and Caiden Gyte. Luke and George also seeing some minutes off the subs bench for the 1st team which bodes well for the future.

It's also a last home game for some of the older lads and the Club wishes them all well as they progress to the next chapter.

But before that the team have one last fixture to enjoy together away at Athersley on Thursday the 30th April.

Everybody at the Church says a massive congratulations to The management team and the lads for a fabulous season.
