Last Friday evening ( 8th May 2026) Our reserve side contested the County Senior League Cup Final v League Champions Hemsworth Miners Welfare at the home of Doncaster Rovers FC - The Eco-Power Stadium. Thursday night saw the last home game of the u21s tremendous 2025/26 season and brought with it a fantastic performance and result. With the Reserves securing their place in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League Cup Final following Wednesday evenings late drama and epic penalty shootout v Dodworth MW, we are now pleased to advise that the club has recieved 250 tickets,for advance sale, for the final which is to be hosted by Doncaster Rovers FC. The game has a 7.15pm Kick Off and will be hosted at neutral venue, Sheerin Park in Athersley. We hope to see loads of you down there to support the lads, as they push for a place in the final. Massive Congratulations to 17 year old George Thompson who made his Church first team debut this afternoon at Golcar United. George started on the bench coming on as a second half substitute for Jack Cawthorn in the 70th minute. George has played for Penistone Church since the age of 6, playing at all junior age groups through to his current u18 Blacks side. George is currently playing his first season as an u18, and also features regularly for our u21 side and Tom Wright’

An end to end first half on a flat but very bobbly pitch made for an entertaining game this evening at the Easy Buy Stadium in Barton. The hosts got off to a swift start and were 2-0 up after 14 minutes, through a long range strike into the top corner, then a goal converted from a low cross, that seemed to take a few bobbles deceiving our back line. Luke Fretwell aged 16 scored a hat trick for the reserves in a 4-1 victory at the Parker Roofing Memorial Ground last Saturday. Thanks to Wombwell Main's fabulous You Tube page, we were able to put a reel of his first hat trick in senior football together to mark the occasion for him. Keep up the good work Luke. Gaffer Tom Wright was delighted with the composed finishing.
