Last Friday evening ( 8th May 2026) Our reserve side contested the County Senior League Cup Final v League Champions Hemsworth Miners Welfare at the home of Doncaster Rovers FC - The Eco-Power Stadium.

A good crowd in attendance and we have to say a massive thankyou to all the Church fans who travelled across to support the lads on the evening.

The team gave everything they had in a fairly tight affair, but fell short to 2 long range strikes, one from open play in the 26th minute and the other the result of a direct free kick and a slight defelction from the edge of the box in the second half, on 60 minutes by Hemsworth's Adam Hayton.

The lads had a good go, and brought a great save from Hemsworth's goalkeeper on 80 minutes, but Church couldn't find a way through against a reslient and organised Hemsworth side.

A great effort and whilst disapointing for the squad and management team, there is no shame missing out to a good Hemsworth side that have completed the league and cup double with a 12 game unbeaten sequence at the right end of the season.

More reaction to come from manager Tom Wright in the coming days on both the final and reflections of the season as a whole.
