PCWFC 5-3 DEARNE & DISTRICT WFC - MATCH REACTION

⚽🖤🤍 FULL TIME | Penistone Church Women 5–3 Dearne & District Ladies
A hat-trick for Heidi Proost and a double from Emma Allcock secured a deserved three points for Church in an entertaining eight-goal encounter at the Memorial Ground.
It was the visitors who started the brighter, taking a deserved lead when a well-delivered corner was met with a header to put Dearne ahead.
Church responded almost immediately, taking just three minutes to draw level. Heidi Proost cut inside from the right onto her trusty left foot before driving an excellent finish inside the near post.
Heidi was at it again before the break, latching onto another superb through ball and finishing neatly across the goalkeeper to turn the game on its head and give Church a 2–1 half-time lead.
The second half saw Church enjoy a purple patch, producing some of their best attacking football of the season to put the game seemingly beyond doubt.
Another perfectly weighted through ball released Heidi, who made no mistake in completing a thoroughly deserved hat-trick.
Not to be outdone by her strike partner, Emma then got in on the act, reacting quickest to a goalkeeper’s spill from a free kick to force home Church’s fourth.
The fifth was arguably the pick of the bunch. Another quality through ball found Emma, who drove an emphatic finish into the roof of the net to complete her brace and put Church 5–1 ahead.
Credit to Dearne, who refused to give up and pulled two goals back late on, giving Church a slightly more nervous finish than should have been necessary!
🖤🤍 Youth and Experience – A Winning Combination
Much has been made of the exciting young talent coming through at Church, and today was another demonstration of that potential.
Seven teenagers featured in the starting eleven, with all five goals coming from two of our young attacking players.
But today’s victory was just as much about the experienced heads providing the foundation for those youngsters to flourish.
Huge credit must go to Sarah in goal, Sophie at centre back, and Abby and Kirsty in central midfield, who provided a strong and dependable spine to the team, allowing the younger players around them to express themselves.
It’s that blend of youth and experience that we believe can make this group something special.
🌟 PLAYER OF THE MATCH – HEIDI PROOST 🌟
A superb hat-trick, three excellent finishes and a constant threat throughout. A thoroughly deserved Player of the Match award for Heidi, although there were plenty of impressive performances across the team.
Three points, five goals and another step forward for this exciting young side.
The future’s bright. The future’s black and white. 🖤🤍
