Reserves 0 - 1 Ecclesfield Red Rose

Penistone Church reserves season started yesterday with a Home game against Ecclesfield Red Rose.

With several new faces from our under 21s and junior section involved and with many players also being unavailable, a much changed side began the game well, but we’re unable to take any of their early chances.

Newly promoted Red Rose grew into the game and scored the games only goal in the first half, coming after poor passes into midfield, led to a chance which was brilliantly saved by our young stand in goalkeeper George Jones, but rather unfortunately the follow-up fell to another Red Rose player who scored.

It was great to see so many under 18s on the pitch but all will feel disappointed with today’s result.
