⚽️ PENISTONE CHURCH WOMEN U13 4–0 WORKSOP BOYS & GIRLS ⚽️

A perfect start to the season! 🖤🤍

The season opener for Penistone Church Women U13 saw us face newly promoted Worksop Boys & Girls, and it didn’t take long for Penistone to break the deadlock.

Just moments into the game, some excellent movement and neat passing created the opening, with Gracie finishing calmly to put Penistone 1–0 ahead.

It wasn’t long before the lead was doubled. Summer signing Alyssia picked up the ball and unleashed a powerful strike that found the back of the net. 2–0! 💥

Both teams then enjoyed spells of good play, but the ball fell kindly to last season’s top scorer Liz, who produced a looping effort that sailed over the keeper and into the net. 3–0.

Penistone continued to press, and some more excellent attacking play saw Alyssia weave her way through the Worksop defence before being brought down inside the area. With the advancing goalkeeper also involved in the challenge, the referee awarded a penalty.

Up stepped Gracie, who made no mistake from the spot to grab her second of the afternoon. 4–0! ⚽️

The second half saw Penistone continue to control the game, with some excellent football from both sides, but neither team could add to the scoreline.

A special mention goes to Maggie, who put in a fantastic midfield performance — covering plenty of ground, driving down the wing, delivering dangerous crosses and putting in some strong tackles. 👏

A comprehensive 4–0 victory, a clean sheet and three points to start the campaign. Even better, the result sees Penistone Church Women U13 rise to 1st place in the league! 🥇

Can we stay there throughout the season? Time will tell… but it’s certainly a very good start! 🙌
