Our U14’s had their final game of the season facing a strong and physical Sprotbrough side away. A win could see us finish 4th so that was the aim for the day.
Both sides had chances in the first half, Penistone even hitting the post. Unfortunately it was Sprotbrough who got the first goal when a corner was defended well but passed back out to the taker and crossed back in again and softly volleyed into the corner of the net with a goal that felt Penistone could and maybe should have done better.
Sprotbrough went in at half time 1-0 up with the second half pretty much the same again. Yet again Penistone hit the post and had some good chances saved by the opposition keeper who was having a great game.
The 2nd and final goal of the game went to Sprotbrough again with a whipped in free kick matched by a great run round the back of the defenders into the box was headed in, keeper Amelia was so close to stoping it having just about managing to get a hand to the ball but unfortunately still went in.
Play of the match went to Emily G who had an outstanding game in centre Mid.
All in all, coaches and parents are so proud of the girls this season.
A mid table finish is something we would have happily aimed for at the start of the season. It’s also given us a positive platform for us to build on for next season.
Some fun training sessions now and then the hard work starts with our pre-season campaign
to becoming U15’s
