Penistone Church U12 Girls 1–9 Rotherham Town

Despite a difficult result, the girls showed plenty of determination, teamwork and moments of real quality in yesterday’s game against Rotherham Town.

The scoreline may not have gone our way, but there were positives to take from a performance where the team continued to work hard, support each other and look for opportunities right until the final whistle.

Emily and Lily both produced some excellent runs through on goal, showing great pace and intent to get in behind the opposition defence. Nyla provided one of the standout moments of the match with a wonderful finish, giving the girls a goal to celebrate and highlighting the quality we have within the team.

Defensively, the girls worked hard throughout against a strong Rotherham side. Despite facing plenty of pressure and spending much of the game behind, they continued to battle, put in the effort and try to make things difficult for the opposition. That resilience and commitment are important qualities that will help the team continue to develop.

Although the result was disappointing, there were encouraging moments in attack, a fantastic goal to celebrate and a real effort from the whole team. These are the games we can learn from, take positives out of and use as motivation to keep improving together.

Heads up, girls! Keep working hard, keep believing in yourselves and keep playing for each other. There’s plenty of football still to come, and we’re proud of the effort you continue to put in.
