Penistone Church Blacks U13 Ladies vs Caribbean Sports JFC U13

After last week’s impressive away win against Penistone Church Whites, Penistone Church Blacks U13 Ladies were back in action — this time on home soil on the Astro at PGS. With half term over, 14 of the squad were available, with just two missing through injury, as they faced a well-organised Caribbean Sports JFC side.

⚽ Match Report

The game couldn’t have started in a tougher fashion for Church. After just two minutes, Caribbean worked the ball cleverly down the left before cutting it back into the area. A powerful strike flew into Harriet’s top-right corner, giving her no chance and handing the visitors an early lead.

Caribbean continued to press and created further chances, but on 17 minutes Church drew level. Alice threaded a perfectly weighted through ball into Evie’s path. Showing superb pace and strength to hold off the defender, Evie coolly finished with a powerful low strike to make it 1–1.

The response from Caribbean was swift. Just five minutes later they again found space down the left and fired home to restore their advantage. Things went from bad to worse three minutes after that — panic in the Church box led to Harriet making a smart initial save, but with the defence slow to react, Caribbean smashed home the rebound to make it 3–1.

Church began to settle as half time approached, growing into the game, but went into the break trailing 3–1.

💪 Second Half Response

Penistone came out determined to fight their way back. Libby grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in midfield, driving the team forward and helping create numerous chances. Unfortunately, the final touch just wouldn’t come.

The Caribbean goalkeeper produced two excellent saves, and despite the pressure, the ball simply wouldn’t drop for Church. Caribbean threatened on the counter and rattled the bar, but it was Penistone who finished the stronger side — pushing until the final whistle but unable to force a breakthrough.

Overall, a competitive and well-contested game between two organised teams — a real advert for girls’ football.
