Penistone Church FC

Penistone Church 0 - 1 Brampton United Before kick-off, both teams and supporters held a minute's silence, as this was our closest fixture to Remembrance Day. Thank you to everyone for observing it so respectfully. 🌺 On the pitch, Church are getting closer and closer. We conceded only one goal and created a good few chances of our own, which shows the process is working. If the girls keep turning up at training and on a Saturday, that first win of the season will come. There

⚽🖤🤍 FULL TIME | Penistone Church Women 2–5 SJR Worksop Community A spirited performance from Church against the league’s form side, but defensive frailties at set pieces ultimately proved costly. Worksop arrived at the Memorial Ground with a 100% league record, having conceded just one goal all season. We knew it would be a tough afternoon, but Church certainly gave the visitors plenty to think about. The game got off to a frantic start, with Worksop taking an early lead fr

⚽🖤🤍 MATCH DAY – BACK IN ACTION THIS SUNDAY! 🤍🖤⚽ After last Sunday’s home fixture against Rossington Main Ladies Reserves fell victim to a waterlogged pitch, our Women will be hoping to get back to action this weekend as we welcome SJR Worksop Community. Our visitors have made an excellent start to the season, winning all their league games so far and conceding just one goal. It’s a good record, but we’ve got plenty of belief in our young squad, and we’re looking forward t

⚽🖤🤍 FULL TIME | Rossington Main Ladies Reserves 0–0 Penistone Church Women Short on numbers, but certainly not short on quality as Church battled their way to a hard-earned point on the road. With just 12 players available, squad depth was always going to be a challenge, but there was absolutely no shortage of quality, determination or commitment from those who pulled on the black and white shirt. There was a well-deserved first start for Macy Jones, stepping up from our Un

⚽ FULL TIME | Penistone Church Women 0–3 Sheffield Wednesday Ladies Reserves A defeat today, but plenty to be proud of from a very young Penistone side against a strong Sheffield Wednesday team who deserved the three points. Wednesday took the lead in unfortunate circumstances, a free kick taking a freak bounce which deceived our goalkeeper. Their second also came with a slice of bad luck — the initial ball was clearly offside before our defender, trying to make the clearance

⚽ FULL TIME Parkgate Women 7–0 Penistone Church Women We advertise our wins, so today we’ll own our losses too (but please feel free to neither like nor share this post 🤣🤣🙈) A tough afternoon and a result that hurts, but this is a young team still learning and developing together. For large parts of the game we were brave, battling and committed, but a 20-minute spell in which we conceded four goals ultimately took the game away from us. Massive credit to Parkgate Women. A

⚽ FULL TIME 🔵Dearne & District Ladies 0–3 Penistone Church Women⚫️ Another three points on the road for Church! 🙌 We created plenty of chances in the first half before Ava Rhodes-Smith finally broke the deadlock, smashing a driven finish into the roof of the net. Dearne always carried a threat though, and we went into the break just 1–0 ahead. We couldn’t have started the second half any better. Some excellent work down the left from Alice Norman created the opportunity for

Thanks to the incredible generosity of David and Sarah at Wellhouse Leisure, our girls will proudly wear Macron's official limited edition Penistone Church FC 120th Anniversary kit throughout the new campaign. Penistone Church Blacks U13 Ladies vs Sheffield Youth FC U13 A three-fixture week saw our final game in the run-up to Easter as Penistone Church Ladies Blacks U13s travelled to Cawthorne to face high-flying Sheffield FC Youth U13s , looking to get back on track after two narrow back-to-back defeats. With the squad showing great commitment across a busy schedule, the girls arrived determined to finish the week strongly against one of the league’s toughest sides. The game didn

The Blacks made the first of two back-to-back visits to Pogmoor this weekend, coming away with a well-earned 2-0 win against the Pinks. It was a game that could have gone either way, with both sides creating plenty of chances and even hitting the woodwork, but it was Penistone who took theirs when it mattered. Molly opened the scoring on 36 minutes with a composed finish under pressure, giving us a deserved lead going into the break. The game stayed competitive throughout, bu

Nether Green Black U13s vs Penistone Church Ladies Blacks U13s Our third match in a row away from home saw us travel to face Nether Green Black, who had already beaten us twice this season and sat a place above us in the table. A glorious spring day meant we could finally start looking forward to more encouraging weather conditions. Although the rain held off, the pitch was still extremely claggy in areas, making it difficult for either side to play attractive football. The f

Nether Green Gold U13s vs Penistone Church Ladies Blacks U13s On the road again this week for our U13 Blacks as we travelled to face Division 3 Shield semi-finalists Nether Green Gold. Thankfully the rain managed to hold off long enough for the teams to finally get out on the grass on what was a pleasant but cold morning, although the pitch itself was bobbly and claggy in places. The first half was fairly even with both sides struggling to create clear chances and finding it

Penistone Church Ladies Blacks were back in action this week as we travelled over to Rotherham to face our hosts Rawmarsh St Josephs. Both teams had been in inconsistent form of late, but it was nice to get back on a grass pitch and, for the first time in what felt like months, play without the rain. Hopefully spring has finally sprung. The game started slowly as both teams tried to get the measure of each other. Rawmarsh had plenty of the ball early on but never really troub

Penistone Church Blacks U13 Ladies vs Caribbean Sports JFC U13 After last week’s impressive away win against Penistone Church Whites, Penistone Church Blacks U13 Ladies were back in action — this time on home soil on the Astro at PGS. With half term over, 14 of the squad were available, with just two missing through injury, as they faced a well-organised Caribbean Sports JFC side. ⚽ Match Report The game couldn’t have started in a tougher fashion for Church. After just two m

Penistone Church Ladies U13 Blacks were finally back in action this weekend away to Caribbean JFC. Both teams doing well in the table and it showed with a close first half where Caribbean managed to sneak into half time one nil up after a first period of few chances and little for either goalkeeper to do. The second half started in the worst possible fashion for Church after conceding almost immediately after the restart with some sloppy play leading to an easy finish for th

As a Football Club for sometime now the committee and some others have toiled over how we can build the commercial aspect of the Football Club. A couple of years ago we nearly ventured into having a commercial manager/director which at the time sadly didn’t come to fruition. Since then we’ve contemplated advertising for the role, but deep down we knew that the role needed to be the right person and hopefully they would put their hand up to give us some help. Thankfully, that
