Its great to be back on the pitch with our coach Derek exceptionally positive from the off as Wolves had actually won a game of football!
We were playing today at Charnock Ridgeway and both sides knew we were in for a close game. In an even first half Bea worked hard to close down a clearance and nip in to finish really well to the great delight of the supporting parents. Charnock responded with a equalising goal and a 1:1 outcome was fair on the balance of play.
The second half Penistone came out of the traps and attempted to push Charnock's defence back and had some joy but they also continued to defend well. It's worth mentioning their goalkeeper stood in for their regular keeper and did an outstanding job. The break through came at the end of the second half with a exceptionally brave run from Lily for three quarters of the pitch nursing a sore hamstring and pushed through the pain barrier to run on and hit an unstoppable shot past their excellent keeper.
Andy (the manager) spoke at the end of the game and underlined the excellent team performance from all the squad. Hattie got the parents award for tireless running in the midfield and constantly battling physically against the opposition. The players award went to Elsie for a exceptional performance on the wing and the Coaches award went to Molly who dominated her box really well and made numerous saves to keep Charnock at bay.

Both teams were a credit to themselves and a thoroughly enjoyable performance played in great spirits.
