Worsbrough Bridge Ath 1-0 Church - Reaction

In a game of few clear cut chances, Church came out on the end of a narrow 1-0 defeat at near neighbours Worsbrough Bridge Athletic. With nothing really in the game, a no holds barred battle of a South Yorkshire derby in front of a fantastic crowd of 349, was won by a set piece header midway through the second half.

It was a game that the referee struggled to get a hold of, and without being a dirty game was not one for the faint hearted with a blood and thunder approach from both sides. A massive effort from both teams with no quarter given.

This was never going to be an easy game, and Worsbrough who have been scoring freely recently were more or less contained, but they also contained our threat equally.

Church felt they were denied a penalty towards the end of the game playing down the hill in the second half when Lennon O'Grady was seemingly brought down on the edge of the area, but the referee waved the shouts away.

We all feel a point would have been a fair reward for tonights efforts but it was'nt to be this evening.

The team go again next Wednesday at home to Rossington Main at the Simply Log Cabins Memorial Ground.

Church Coach - Jammy discussed the game afterwards with Dave Hampshire and here is what he had to say -
