Penistone Church reserves season started yesterday with a Home game against Ecclesfield Red Rose. With several new faces from our under 21s and junior section involved and with many players also being unavailable, a much changed side began the game well, but we’re unable to take any of their early chances. The lads put in a good shift and were a little unlucky to go down 2-1 this afternoon over at Stockport Georgians FC. In a very close encounter Church got their noses in front after taking the lead via a 40th minute penalty from Nathan Keightley for his 3rd goal in 2 games. However Georgians hit back in the 45th minute with the equaliser and then took the lead to win the game 2-1 in the 59th minute. This Saturday the first team travel with the backing of a coachload of supporters, across the pennines to meet Stockport Georgians in the Isuzu FA Vase First Qualifying Round. Its a 3pm Kick Off and we look forward to seeing you there. The coach will depart from the club car park at midday , and the club house bar will be open from 11am.
